Imaging Careers

Imaging services at Union Memorial Hospital isn't just a department, it's a team focused on delivering the best patient care. If you have the right qualifications, we offer an exciting and friendly working environment in which you will work and learn as a true colleague with our radiologists.
Our imaging technologists have an opportunity to mentor Radiology, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine students who rotate through the department. Members of the Imaging Services team also benefit from working with state-of-the-art equipment, including:
- Two multi-slice CT scanners
- The latest high-field strength MRI
- DR and CR
- The latest SPECT cameras
- PACS
A balance between life and work
In Diagnostic Radiology, the technologists work between every 4th and every 7th weekend. Extra shifts can be picked up for overtime and extra shift bonuses. The technologists are also on-call about 2 evenings every three weeks and one weekend every other month.
Licensure and certification
Successful completion of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification examination and certification by the Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance are required to be a Medical Radiation Technologist.
Educational and advancement opportunities
Educational Assistance Benefit. Full-time employees can be reimbursed up to a maximum of
$3,000 in a calendar year for approved courses. Benefits-eligible part-time employees are eligible for 50 percent of the full-time benefit, or
$1,500 in a calendar year.
