Baltimore—MedStar Union Memorial and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospitals welcome Michael Somenek, MD, board-certified otolaryngologist, to their Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) service lines. Dr. Somenek brings additional expertise to the ENT services offered at MedStar Union Memorial and MedStar Good Samaritan by providing a highly specialized focus on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head and neck.
Dr. Somenek specializes in a variety of services, including aesthetic facial surgery (face lifting, eyelid surgery, scar revision, etc.), skin cancer reconstruction, facial trauma, and functional and cosmetic nasal surgery (rhinoplasty). In addition, patients seek Dr. Somenek for minimally invasive facial plastic procedures, including facial liposuction, endoscopic forehead, brow and midface lift, and lip and cheek augmentation. Non-surgical rejuvenation procedures, including Botox®, injectable fillers (Juvederm®, Restylane®, etc.), laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels also are available in his practice.
Dr. Somenek completed an intensive fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery under the guidance of world-renowned facial plastic surgeons J. Regan Thomas, MD, former president of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; and Dean Toriumi, MD, revision rhinoplasty expert at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital. Prior to his specialty training, Dr. Somenek completed medical school and a five-year residency training program in otolaryngology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Somenek is a member of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As an author of multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, textbook chapters and presentations at national meetings, he has contributed to many fields of ear, nose and throat medicine.
Dr. Somenek joins Drs. Alan Shikani and Han Sohn at the Maryland ENT Centers, located in the 33rd Street Building at MedStar Union Memorial and in the Smyth Professional Office Building at MedStar Good Samaritan.
