Overview (PGY-1)
Throughout the course of the year residents are primarily responsible for clinically based patient care, while also gaining experience in other areas of pharmacy practice that allow them to take patient care responsibilities beyond the bedside.
By incorporating all of these elements (professionalism, patient care, management, and drug information/medication use according to policy) along with a research project, the program follows the standards set forth by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists for pharmacy practice residencies.
The Pharmacy Practice Residency Program is a 12-month, post-graduate, full-time curriculum that provides residents with a wide range of training opportunities in various pharmaceutical care settings. Core rotations on-site are precepted by the clinical specialist for that area. Various elective rotations are available on and off-site that provide the resident with a wide range of choices to expand their learning opportunities. There is a combination of longitudinal and block rotations.
