Pediatric ENT
The physicians and staff of the center also diagnose and treat a wide range of disorders in children, most commonly tonsil and adenoid problems, ear infections, allergies and repeated respiratory disorders. Treatment for these problems may include the placement of pressure-equalizing (PE) tubes in the ears to preventfluid build-up and reduce the number of ear infections. The tubes usually stay in place for six to 12 monthsand then fall out.
Some children may need surgery to remove tonsils or adenoids that are frequently infected. The surgeryoften can be performed on an outpatient basis andthe recovery, especially in children, is usually complete within a couple of weeks.
Our staff will explain any procedures necessary for you or your child and will answer your questions prior to and after surgery.
We also specialize in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders in children. Children may have some ofthe same difficulties, such as snoring and sleep apnea (cessation of breathing during sleep), that occur inadults. After proper diagnoses, these conditions maybe treated with surgery, lifestyle changes or devicesthe children can wear while sleeping.
Our staff works with children, their parents andpediatricians and family physicians to ensure that young patients get the most appropriate treatment.
