Inpatient Rehabilitation
Union Memorial Hospital has partnered with its sister-hospital, National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH), to provide the Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP) at Union Memorial Hospital. Through this partnership Union Memorial offers National Rehab’s expert, specialized care in a state-of-the-art hospital our patients have come to know and trust. Our treatment team, comprised of NRH physicians and Union Memorial nurses, therapists and support staff, focuses on patients’ capabilities rather than disabilities. This positive approach allows our rehabilitation professionals to help patients return to their highest levels of independence.
A Good Combination
When choosing a rehabilitation center, patients and families should consider whether the facility has all the services they may need. The combination of NRH’s expert rehabilitation programs and Union Memorial’s care ensures that nearly everything a patient may need is available. For example, should an emergency arise, intensive and cardiac care units are close by. In addition, we provide radiation oncology services, full imaging capabilities, renal dialysis and respiratory therapy.
The rehabilitation program provides care for all types of patients, some with the most medically complex and disabling conditions, including those caused by open heart surgery, cardiovascular disease, joint replacement, stroke, amputations and neurological disorders.
Our rehabilitation team also works closely with our highly skilled team of surgeons to help ensure that all patients regain their freedom. Our expert surgeons routinely visit patients on the rehabilitation unit to assess their progress and offer support.
Our complete spectrum of rehabilitation services also includes support groups, home health care services and additional follow-up care. Quite simply, we find this winning combination of rehabilitation expertise, support programs and medical and surgical services best for our patients and their families.
Our primary emphasis is to:
- Provide quality, state-of-the-art medical care
- Restore mobility, self-care, communication, psychosocial competence and bowel and bladder function
- Educate patients and their family members
- Stress preventative aspects of health management
- Plan for post-hospitalization care
- Re-integrate patients into their community
