Serving the community for nearly 150 years, MedStar Union Memorial is a 278-bed hospital with more than 2,000 employees. The hospital has a strong foundation of core services in general medicine and surgery. From this solid base have grown outstanding and, in many cases, world class or nationally renowned specialties.
These include the Curtis National Hand Center, a regional trauma center for the treatment and rehabilitation of hand and upper extremity injuries and disease; the William H.M. Finney Spine Center, an outpatient facility specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and research of spinal disorders; the Sports Medicine Center, specializing in the care of amateur and professional athletes; The Heart Institute, which offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art cardiovascular care by a nationally recognized team of cardiac specialists; and the first hospital-based magnetic resonance imaging center in Baltimore City. Other specialties include women's services, oncology, geriatrics, cosmetic surgery, comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation, orthopaedics and behavioral health.
